Belly Fat Predicts Heart Damage Better Than the Scale

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-

Wow-it's wintertime again! With the nice weather we had earlier in January, I felt we might get by without too much more cold weather but that's not the case. The furnaces are running almost full time now to try to stay ahead of this very chilly weather and I hope yours is working well. One of the big problems I see with the furnaces running a lot is that the air gets so dry. Well, it's important to have a humidifier going or some other way of getting humidity in the air. This is so important for the mucous membranes of the sinuses and lungs to have some humidity in the air. If it gets too dry, the mucous membranes will be irritated and sometimes damaged to the point where infections can get started. We're seeing a lot of that with the after-holiday diet problems combined with the dry air causing people to have colds and flu symptoms. We have some great natural whole food supplements to help the immune system strengthen and get over it, but it's important to look at the underlying causes which this time of the year, are the holidays and the stress with that, the dry air from the furnace running, and getting low on vitamin D as we have not been going outside in the sunshine as much. At Natural Health, we have ways of helping with all of these problems, to help you get back to health and stay healthy throughout the rest of the winter.

The article that I'm sending to you this week looks at the connection of belly fat and heart damage. That seems like a stretch but not really. We're back to the old problems of refined carbohydrates, like from holiday cookies and candies and such, causing an insulin spike in the cardiovascular system resulting in inflammation and damage to blood vessels. This starts a cascade of problems with the body producing cholesterol to help protect the blood vessel lining which can lead to the plaquing and problems with heart circulation and damage. We're starting to see a little glimmer of truth from the government agencies as they're trying to get patients off of refined seed oils and a lot of the refined sugar and flour in the diet. Changing the food pyramid and basically turning it upside down, is a way to help patients get healthy but the food manufacturers sure don't like it. Now I'm all for commerce but when it comes to the health of the nation, it's time to find out the underlying cause of problems and stop just treating symptoms after they have appeared, after the patient has eaten junk for decades. None of this stuff is really rocket science but it's just getting past all the advertising and marketing that has been going on for  a century or more. People have just gotten used to going to the grocery store and thinking that everything is safe and good for you there and that is definitely not the truth. Just because it's in a nice shiny box or covered in plastic, does not mean it's healthy and is probably a way to detect foods that are not good for you. At Natural Health, we worked very hard to educate our patients about what foods are good for them and this keeps them away from having health issues. We also work towards supplementing their nutritional intake so that they can handle the daily stress they're under. We don't like to see patients burning the candle at both ends because we know that their health will suffer.
