Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-
I hope that everyone enjoyed their Labor Day weekend. It sure was nice weather and that made it go even faster. I had a very busy weekend as we visited the Saint Louis Science Center and the Saint Louis Zoo with grandkids. It was a nice getaway from having to work at home mowing grass and the like. We were lucky in getting to these areas as they were not as busy as I thought they would be. We were able to get in and around and out without too much trouble and that made the visit much more enjoyable. But like any other place that you go out to, the food choices that were available were not very good as far as nutritional content goes. I like to watch people too and there is a lot of excess poundage going on out there. At Natural Health, we know what we should be eating but I wonder if the general public knows much about it. It sure doesn't seem like it. I was interested to see that there is going to be an initiative to get more nutritional education to medical doctors and it's about time. Our country has a terrible record of poor health outcomes because people don't know anything about what foods to eat and the medical people that they talk to don't consider that a priority. They are about just letting people eat what they want and then coming in to get treatment for whatever condition they end up with, like diabetes and heart disease and cancer. We strive every day to educate our patients on what foods are good for them, not only in taste but in nutrition and health.
The article that I'm sending along today looks at the problem with excess cortisol in the body due to the stresses of life, and how to reduce it. It was a pretty good list of problems that this excess cortisol hormone causes, like weight gain, fatigue, poor sleep, and blood sugar spikes which lead to cardiovascular disease. So, getting cortisol under control is a very good idea. The best way to get rid of this cortisol over abundance is to not have stress in the first place, but that is not the world that we are living in. At Natural Health, we strive to teach our patients ways to do this, like deep breathing exercises and stretching and walking. The article even talked about overexercising as a way to increase cortisol levels and that is not what we want. Cortisol is important to be able to handle a stressful or emergency situation at the time, but it is not something that you want elevated over the long term as it lends the body towards degenerative disease. And again, we're back to our country having a terrible record when it comes to degenerative diseases. With our Nutrition Response Testing technique, we can ask the body what it needs to keep itself from becoming stressed, which in turn helps to reduce cortisol levels, increase energy and stamina, and remove brain fog so we can think clearly and enjoy life. You can find lots of information about this on our website at naturalhealthquincy.com.
