A House Divided

Welcome back, Natural Health Family. I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer as it always seems to go by fairly quickly. When you look at the news, television, social media, what do you see? You may see some good, some bad, and some that can just upset people altogether. It appears that you will see people telling others what to do, their own opinions, etc. This is not good or bad but can lead to division. In any case, a person should not fight against something they don’t want, but place more of their energy on what they do want. Just like a country that wants to stand together, to bring about health, it is important to bring harmony back to the body.

Abraham Lincoln made famous the quote, “ A house divided cannot stand.” This is ultimately how many things function. You can see in our country that there are people who are on very different sides. This obviously can lead to disagreement, discourse, and unfortunately turmoil. However, the founding fathers did not make different houses and political parties as a means to divide but keep each other in check. This was intended to bring order out of chaos. We can use this analogy with our health. Modern medicine has made great discoveries, has been paramount in emergency care, but where it falls is bringing about health. Many means of health in this field is a fight against something, be it a virus, bug, bacteria, etc.

Again, in emergencies, there is nothing better, but in regard to health we can see it is not the best means and unfortunately the stats show. You can see for yourself on the CDC website. Going back to the example of keeping things in check, our bodies are designed for healing, health, and being adaptable. The body always has viruses, bacteria, fungi, and other molecules. When in harmony they keep each other in check. However, when there is division, when stressors have caused the body not to adapt, that is when we see issues. So it is not so much to attack or fight the disturbance, the symptom, or the health issue, but to support the body’s own healing ability to bring back harmony.

Life can teach and show us in so many ways how to restore order. Nature is a great example of this. So, maybe to heal a nation, it won’t come from trying to fix the problems we see, but for every individual to take time to listen, to understand, to work together and to be healthy enough to help others see they can do this as well.
