Welcome back, Natural Health Family. I hope everyone had a great weekend and got outside to enjoy some good sunshine. It was good to see people at the Makers Market too. As the weekend came to an end, I reflected on some health aspects and wanted to bring up some points today. As health is a normal state for our body, let’s talk about how disease can be seen more as dis-ease and how this perspective can help us attain and maintain health.
The CDC states that 1 in 4 people have a chronic health disease and that 1 in 6 people have two or more. When it comes to health, there are many different ways that people can see it. However, if we look back a little ways, we can see that we have been influenced by different people or companies of what disease is and where it comes from. For instance, we have been told about the germ theory and how it is a major influence on our health. Of course, I am not saying to be unsanitary but this led us from one extreme to the other. Instead of being okay with some dirt or uncleanliness here and there we went on a onslaught of making sure to kill all the bugs and over sanitize everything. Research and studies show that this can lead to other immune factors that promote more issues rather than preventing the initial problem. It caused us to fear the “bugs” outside of us rather than having strong immune systems. Or we can talk about the genetic theory. Again, I am not saying that there are not some issues that stem from genetics, but we again have made a huge blanket statement based on theory. Look into the Human Genome Project, you’ll discover that it caused more questions than answers. It also led us to realize that there is a lot more to the story and how we hold the power to influence our genes to create health rather than be victims of disease. When we are able to flip it from being a victim of disease to realizing that the issue is due to a dis-ease, it helps us become better equipped to help ourselves and reclaim our health once again.
As we start to wake up to what is happening in our country and our health we will soon realize our potential. We will be able to take back our power not by force but through a knowledge and understanding. It is time for us to know how strong we are and not to let ourselves be told what is best for our health in a failing system. Be strong everyone, let’s grow together.
