Good day, Natural Health Family. What did everyone do over the weekend? I hope you got outside and enjoyed the sunshine. There are times in life when it feels like it is flying by, like time moves without us even noticing. Then other times it may feel like it is on standby, like we are waiting for it to move, or that it slows down to a halt. When we realize that life will always have waves, just like the ebbs and flows of the ocean tides, life works in that nature. Although this happens, we can help ourselves by not getting caught up in the back and forth. This ultimately leads to finding peace where we are at.

When you think of your nervous system, what comes up? Do you think of the stressors of the day-to-day? Do the things that may stress you come up? Do you think of ways to calm or balance your nervous system? Or do you think of the amazing capabilities of your body and the magnificently intelligent design of the human body, seeing the nervous system as one of the most powerful and sophisticated systems of electrical impulses in the world? I am guessing the latter, probably not. Although we don’t think like that, because of the way our society and culture is set up and has been influenced, we can train and learn to embrace this new understanding. That our bodies are amazing at what they can do and how we can better help ourselves to stay healthy and also adapt to the stressors of life.

When we do this, we wield a power within us to grow stronger as we go through life. Instead of being so influenced by all that is going on outside of us and around us, we ground ourselves to have a more balanced and stable foundation, which allows life to move more effortlessly. We are not pulled in all the many directions of life, taking on too many responsibilities, thinking about all the have-tos should should-dos, and being able to do what is needed as life brings it to us. We are better able to face challenges and obstacles with more ease, realizing we are much greater than the triumphs or tribulations that we face. This is similar to asking not to have fewer problems or issues in life, but to gain greater strength and clarity so that we can live a healthier and happier life.

Again, life will have its ups and downs. It’s just how nature works. Much like a light bulb that seems to always be shining, it flickers light off and on so fast that our eyes can’t perceive it. Or like the ocean tides going in and out. Our breathing is also a good simile of this flow. So I encourage you to embrace where you are at in life, with all the many things going on, and take a moment (or moments) to appreciate how diverse life is and at the same time so simple. Have a great week!

-Dr. Chip
